Our Story
About our cleaning company in Cheshire
Merry Maids Cheshire is owned and managed by Theresa and her husband, Ged Taylor and is based in Stretford, Manchester. The business began in 2004, when Theresa decided that she wanted to provide exemplary domestic cleaning services in Cheshire.
The Merry Maids Cheshire team is mainly family run, with Theresa’s eldest daughter Laura undertaking the role as Office Manager and youngest daughter Karla as Cleaning Supervisor. Keeping the business within the family has meant that the business has received valuable talent and contributions from Theresa’s own, making the business an ongoing achievement that everyone is extremely proud to be part of.
Meet some of our fantastic staff members.
Karla Taylor has worked for Merry Maids for ten years and her specialty is cleaning kitchens and bathrooms. She loves the attention to detail that comes with them, she also likes spring cleans, the more challenging the better! Karla is a very happy, pleasant and extremely hard working member of Merry Maids and attention to detail is excellent. She loves to ride horses whenever she gets the opportunity and has a dog named Callie. She is a keen and devoted animal lover.
Caroline has worked for Merry Maids for over eight years and has recently been promoted to Trainer. She is always pleasant ,kind and considerate and anything that is asked of her is done without complaint. Caroline shows great compassion and empathy to our more mature customers and has the most caring personality you could wish for. Caroline is also a keen animal lover and has two boisterous but amazing dogs who she loves to walk in the evenings. Attention to detail is her speciality and she displays this in her high standards to each and every customer she serves. We see a very bright and promising future for Caroline within our Merry Maids business.
Kerri joined us in the summer and has a lovely rapport with all the staff and customers. It is part of our recruitment process for our new ladies to meet the rest of the team and some of the customers if possible. She has a lovely daughter who is currently in primary school and Kerri spends her days off out with her or socialising with friends.
Colette is one of our newer member of staff, she has fitted in great and is a brilliant addition to our team. She has a daughter at primary school and she is always organising different adventures for them or baking lots of treats when she isn’t in work. She has a great eye for detail work and always takes pride in every home she cleans.
Gemma is a lovely member of our team, she is always cheery and great with customers. Her cheery persona is infectious and is always welcome in our office and customer homes. She prides herself on her work and is always up for a challenge. She has a daughter who is the double of Gemma and have just started primary school.
Shelley joined us in the summer and fits in really well. She loves going to the gym and goes daily, when she is not spending time with her young son. It is fair to say that she certainly has lots of energy (which comes in handy for her job!). She is such a great cleaner and can always be relied on to clean to the Merry Maids high standard of cleaning that our customers know and love.
Lilly is a our youngest member of staff but she certainly makes up for her age with her cleaning capabilities. She is a brilliant cleaner who takes great pride in her work. In her spare time she volunteers at an animal sanctuary, she is a very caring girl who loves all animals. This is so important as many of our customers have pets who are in homes whilst we clean, which doesn’t cause us any problems!
Laura has been with us a year now and is a lovely member of our time. She is always willing to help and go the extra mile for customers and the Merry Maids team. In her spare time she is a makeup artist and glams up the ladies in and around the North West. Laura also has a gorgeous Cockapoo called Poppy, as you can see we are such animal fans here!
Kelsey has been with us for 6 years. She is our trainer and trains all our new staff members as well as completing ongoing training on a regular basis for our current team members. The customers love Kelsey as she has great relationships with all her regular and new customers as well as providing a really high standard of cleaning. She also helps in the office on a weekly basis to ensure Merry Maids is running the most efficient and professional way.
Michelle has been with us nearly a year now and works well with all our maids. She is a part time singer in her spare time so you can usually find her doing a gig in the evenings! She is a great member of staff who takes time to make sure all homes are cleaned to our high standard and takes great pride in her work.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition. Dementia touches the lives of millions of people across the UK. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion.
Merry Maids of Cheshire are pleased to be Dementia Friends.
A Dementia Friend or Dementia Friends Champion is someone who has a better understanding of dementia; will know how to act more sympathetically towards people with dementia in their communities and workplaces; and has committed to taking a practical action to help people with dementia, contributing to a dementia friendly community. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
We deliver dementia training to all of our new starters and provide ongoing dementia training to our existing maids to ensure that their knowledge is kept up to date so that we continue to be an understanding cleaning company.
