Our Story
Merry Maids North & Central Manchester is owned and managed by Theresa and her husband, Ged Taylor and is based in Stretford, Manchester. The business began in 2004, when Theresa decided that she wanted to bring provide domestic cleaning services in North & Central Manchester.
The Merry Maids North & Central Manchester team is mainly family run, with Theresa’s eldest daughter Laura undertaking the role as Office Manager and youngest daughter Karla as Cleaning Supervisor. Keeping the business within the family has meant that the business has received valuable talent and contributions from Theresa’s own, making the business an ongoing achievement that everyone is extremely proud to be part of.
Meet some of our fantastic staff members.
Karla Taylor has worked for Merry Maids for ten years and her specialty is cleaning kitchens and bathrooms. She loves the attention to detail that comes with them, she also likes spring cleans, the more challenging the better! Karla is a very happy, pleasant and extremely hard working member of Merry Maids and attention to detail is excellent. She loves to ride horses whenever she gets the opportunity and has a dog named Callie. She is a keen and devoted animal lover.
Caroline has worked for Merry Maids for over eight years and has recently been promoted to Trainer. She is always pleasant ,kind and considerate and anything that is asked of her is done without complaint. Caroline shows great compassion and empathy to our more mature customers and has the most caring personality you could wish for. Caroline is also a keen animal lover and has two boisterous but amazing dogs who she loves to walk in the evenings. Attention to detail is her speciality and she displays this in her high standards to each and every customer she serves. We see a very bright and promising future for Caroline within our Merry Maids business.
Colette is one of our newer member of staff, she has fitted in great and is a brilliant addition to our team. She has a daughter at primary school and she is always organising different adventures for them or baking lots of treats when she isn’t in work. She has a great eye for detail work and always takes pride in every home she cleans.
Kelsey has been with us for 6 years. She is our trainer and trains all our new staff members as well as completing ongoing training on a regular basis for our current team members. The customers love Kelsey as she has great relationships with all her regular and new customers as well as providing a really high standard of cleaning. She also helps in the office on a weekly basis to ensure Merry Maids is running the most efficient and professional way.
Andrea joined Merry Maids in the new year and has been a great addition to our team. She has two children who she enjoys baking with and loves animals!
Ashley works for us full time and is a fantastic member of our team. She recently became an Auntie and dotes on her little niece.
Danielle joined us last year, she is a lovely member of our team who takes great pride in her work. She has two children who she is always out and about with. She particularly enjoys working with Colette as they make a great team and customers love their double act.
Laura has been with us since the start of the year, she is a lovely member of the team who has fitted in perfectly. She has five children who keep her busy!

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition. Dementia touches the lives of millions of people across the UK. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion.

A Dementia Friend or Dementia Friends Champion is someone who has a better understanding of dementia; will know how to act more sympathetically towards people with dementia in their communities and workplaces; and has committed to taking a practical action to help people with dementia, contributing to a dementia friendly community. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
We deliver dementia training to all of our new starters and provide ongoing dementia training to our existing maids to ensure that their knowledge is kept up to date so that we continue to be an understanding cleaning company.

Here at Merry Maids North & Central Manchester, we are passionate about giving back to the local community. We recently ran Race for Life and managed to raise a whopping £400 as a team!
As a family run business, we are passionate about dogs. Therefore for our latest charity exercise, we chose to raise money for Manchester Dogs Home – Dogs 4 Rescue.
It was a huge team effort with Theresa (who is a keen baker), baking hundreds of pre-ordered baked goods to be distributed via the maids to the customers of Merry Maids North & Central Manchester. Not only did we cater for the human sweet tooth, but also for our canine friends! Our dog friendly cup cakes were trialled and tested on our very own brood of dogs and definitely got the paw of approval.
We are proud to announce that we raised a huge £330! This money will make a huge difference to Dogs 4 Rescue and we couldn’t be prouder to hand this donation to such a deserving charity close to our hearts.
We hope to run a charity event again soon! Thanks for your continued cooperation and donations!
