Training & Career Progression
At Merry Maids, previous cleaning experience isn’t necessary. Upon joining us, you will undertake full training, enabling you to clean to our standards and use our bespoke products.
All equipment required will be provided for you.
You will receive Alzheimers and dementia training by Alzheimer’s Society.

Our Story
Beccy Pope
Beccy took over the North Sussex (est. 1996) franchise in 2019. She is very well qualified to look after the company, having spent over 10 years working in the Security Industry.
Beccy sought a business model that was established and sound, choosing Merry Maids for its clear support set up and ethics. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in regards to business management and best practice whilst also being a down to earth mum to a very active two year old and a collection of furry friends!
Our Staff
23 years on and we have a team of friendly staff members, all of which have been background checked and professionally trained. Some of our cleaning staff have been with the company for more than ten years!
Our hardworking and dedicated staff are what make us so unique and trustworthy.

Our team comprises of Beccy, the Company Owner, Alex our Team Leader and our amazing Maids.
Our Maids work days that fit around their personal and home lives, so we have some full-time and some part-time Maids all of whom finish their day by 14:30. We employ male and female Maids and a broad range of ages.

I took over Merry Maids North Sussex in 2019 having spent over 10 years working in the Security Industry. I was looking for a business model that was established and sound and chose Merry Maids for its clear support set up and ethics. As a mum to two I also saw the value in a business that allowed its employees to work around their families.
I love what we offer our local community and the pride my team and myself take in the service we deliver. Our reviews reflect our reliability and dedication to delivering a high standard clean!

I started working for Merry Maids back in September 2008, after leaving my previous job of 12 years as a Kennel Manager. I came to Merry Maids as the hours fit around my two boys. I love the thought that we are helping people and making a difference. Back in 2021 after having my second boy, i was lucky enough to be offered a promotion to become Team Leader. I am very happy with this role, i enjoy managing the cleaners and the daily running of Merry Maids. I work for a lovely boss and nice group of cleaners.

So you have found your dream home and the contracts have been exchanged. We know this is a really stressful time.
Merry Maids can help!
We offer a Deep Cleaning Service to your new home so that it is ready for your family to move in. We will clean and sanitise all the paintwork and surfaces, sanitary ware and even the insides of your kitchen cupboards and the inside of all windows.
We can also clean your present home after the removals staff have finished, so that it is ready for your buyer.
We will offer a free in home survey, and will provide an individual price for each home.

Merry Maids are experienced at working with letting agents to help keep their clients and property owners happy. All too often property owners are faced with the hassle of redecoration and deep cleaning at the end of a tenancy in order to get their property back into a rentable state. That’s where we can help. We have designed our tenancy clean to provide you with the best possible service. Our cleaners know how important it is to leave the property as immaculately as possible whether people are moving in/out or selling a house.
If you are a letting agent and have your own cleaning specification we are happy to follow your own specialised requirements.
To enquire about booking a tenancy clean. We will be happy to provide you with a team of maids, using professional materials and equipment, always cleaning to a high standard, which we guarantee. Merry Maids often works as part of a tenancy agreement to regularly clean your clients’ properties keeping them clean and tidy for the duration of the agreement so that there are no end of tenancy surprises.
Use Merry Maids because:
- We can keep an eye on your clients’ properties because we’re there regularly
- We notify you of any potential problems
- By visiting regularly, we can keep on top of the cleaning, which reduces the need for deep cleaning
- We can ensure a swift end of tenancy change over, making the property available for the re-let immediately after the tenant has vacated.
- We can also co-ordinate carpet cleaning where required.

Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition. Dementia touches the lives of millions of people across the UK. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion.
A Dementia Friend or Dementia Friends Champion such as the maids at Merry Maids of North Sussex are individuals who have a better understanding of dementia; will know how to act more sympathetically towards people with dementia in their communities and workplaces; and has committed to taking a practical action to help people with dementia, contributing to a dementia friendly community. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living with dementia, every action counts.
We felt that it was important for each one of our maids to become Dementia Friends as we often visit customers homes where someone is affected by Dementia, either personally or through a friend or relative. The training provided has helped our maids to become familiar with the condition, and understand how to act more sympathetically.
