KEEPING OUR STAFF & OUR CLIENTS SAFE
At Merry Maids of South Yorkshire we take the safety of all our staff & clients very seriously.
The Company has undertaken a Covid 19 Risk Assessment that is reviewed & updated on a regular basis and our Maids work in accordance to the latest rules, regulations & guidance issued by HM Government. The following measures have been put in place.
MAIDS
No Maid is allowed to come to work if they or any member of their household are showing any symptoms or they or any member of their household has been advised to self-isolate.
Every Maid has:
- been issued with a Covid 19 Risk Assessment.
- been trained in the procedures & protocols put in place
- to wear a face mask when entering our offices.
- their temperature taken, and recorded, on arrival at the office every working day.
- to adhere to the social distancing rules whilst in our offices.
- been issued with their own travel bottle of hand sanitiser, face mask and each team carries a supply of latex gloves.
A hand sanitising station is located at the entrance to our offices.
CLIENTS
We telephone each client, prior to their scheduled clean, to check that they and anyone else in their household are fit & well, free from symptoms & have not been advised to self-isolate.
All mops / cloths are freshly laundered & sanitised for use in individual households.
All cleaning equipment is cleaned down & sanitised in between each clean.
Wherever possible the Maids work in set teams of two & we try to send the same regular team to each of our clients.
Face masks are worn by our Maids whilst travelling together to & from each of our clients’ homes.
Maids will sanitise their hands prior to entering a clients’ home.
Face masks are worn when entering a clients’ home.
All clients are asked to abide by social distancing rules whilst the Maids are working in their home.
Maids have been trained to ensure that ‘high touch points’ are cleaned & sanitised as part of their regular cleaning regime.
We maintain records of which Maids have worked together and which clients they have visited.
TRACK & TRACE
Should a member of staff need to self-isolate we will contact any other member of our staff & any clients that they may have been in contact with in the past 48 hours to advise them that they should follow the government regulations. Any Maid that has tested positive is not allowed to return to work for a minimum of 10 days.

All too often property owners are faced with the hassle of redecoration and deep cleaning at the end of a tenancy in order to get their property back into a rentable state. That’s where we can help. Merry Maids of South Yorkshire supports the Climbing Kilimanjaro for Clean Water
Not having access to clean water seems alien to most of us (or at worst a temporary inconvenience) but in East Africa, it’s your life. You walk hours each day to fetch water that will probably make you ill, and there’s a significant chance you won’t recover. In our modern age, this should not be a problem and Dig Deep (a charity based here in Sheffield) is trying to fix that. Their operation is simple: volunteers raise money and get sponsored to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (the tallest free-standing mountain in the world) and Dig Deep use the money to provide communities and schools in Kenya with ‘Taps, Toilets and Training’. How? They build infrastructures for reliable, local and clean water sources; safe, hygienic latrines; and train local people to maintain all this vital equipment. The result? A society where drinking water doesn’t kill you, children don’t miss school due to illness, and teenage girls don’t have to leave education early due to unsafe conditions. (www.digdeep.org.uk)
Last year I took on Dig Deep’s challenge (later than most), having just half a year to raise enough money to make the climb worth it. In that time I trained for and ran my first 2 half marathons, packed bags at supermarkets, organised biweekly raffles on social media, and even got a second job. I relied on the generosity of friends, family and local businesses for every donation and together we raised £3,095. I am thankful to each and every sponsor, especially to Service Master Merry Maids for their generous donation.
The climb began in early September, quickly ascending through mosquito-infested, tropical rainforest, up above the clouds and into sub-zero temperatures. Each day was harder than the last but the gruelling hard work and minimal sleep was offset by the upbeat chants and words of encouragement from guides and fellow climbers alike; whom I will never forget. The climb was treacherous, exhausting, and sadly not everyone in my group made it to the top. For those of us who did, we stood at the peak of a continent, freezing cold at -25°C and struggling to breath the thin air knowing we’d completely the hardest thing we’ve ever done, but then again, we’d never lived without access to clean water.

Mike and Carol Fargher of Merry Maids South Yorkshire are celebrating after receiving their 25 year Service Pin as a ServiceMaster franchise and a North Star Growth Award for the growth of their business in 2017.
