Moving Home in Croydon This September? Merry Maids Croydon Helps You Start Fresh with a Deep Clean

Moving home comes with a long list of jobs.

There are boxes to label, keys to collect, removals to organise and final checks to make before one home is left behind and another begins. In the middle of it all, cleaning can become one of the hardest jobs to fit in properly.

Empty rooms reveal the marks of everyday life. Cupboards that once felt tidy suddenly need wiping out. Bathrooms need attention before handover. Kitchens often need the most time, from worktops and appliances to floors, tiles and those corners that are easy to miss when furniture is still in place.

For people moving in, it can feel just as important. Before the sofa arrives and the kettle is plugged in, many want the reassurance of knowing the home has been cleaned properly first.

That is where Merry Maids Croydon can help.

Merry Maids Croydon provides professional deep cleaning, move-in cleaning, move-out cleaning and one-off cleaning across Croydon and nearby areas, helping customers manage one of the most demanding parts of moving home.

Why book a deep clean when moving home?

A moving-home clean gives customers one less thing to carry.

For renters, a professional clean can help the property feel ready for final inspection. For homeowners, it can make the selling process feel more complete. For landlords and estate agents, it can help a property feel fresh, presentable and ready for its next occupant.

For buyers and new tenants, a move-in clean helps create a cleaner starting point before boxes, beds and furniture fill the rooms.

For anyone searching for moving home cleaning Croydon, deep cleaning Croydon, move-in cleaning Croydon, move-out cleaning Croydon or cleaner near me, Merry Maids Croydon offers practical cleaning support at a time when every hour counts.

Move-out cleaning in Croydon

Moving out can be emotional and tiring.

Once the rooms are empty, the home often needs more attention than expected. Skirting boards, floors, inside cupboards, bathroom fittings, kitchen surfaces and high-touch areas can all need a thorough clean before the door is closed for the final time.

Merry Maids Croydon can support tenants, homeowners, landlords and letting agents with one-off move-out cleans designed around the property and what needs to be done.

Move-in cleaning for a fresh start

A new home should feel like yours from the moment you step inside.

A move-in deep clean can help remove dust, freshen key rooms and give customers more confidence before unpacking begins. Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living spaces and floors can all be cleaned before daily life starts to settle in.

For customers moving across Croydon, Purley, Shirley and surrounding areas, Merry Maids Croydon offers trusted local cleaning with care and attention.

A cleaner handover, a calmer move

Moving is rarely simple, but the cleaning can be.

Merry Maids Croydon helps customers leave one property well and enter the next with confidence. Whether it is a move-in clean, move-out clean, one-off deep clean or regular domestic cleaning after the move, the team is there to help make the process feel easier.

Why Autumn Is the Perfect Time for a Spring Clean with Merry Maids Croydon

By the time September arrives, a home can tell the story of a busy summer.

There are shoes by the door from days in and out, crumbs in the corners, bathrooms that have worked harder than usual, and living rooms that have slowly gathered the signs of school holidays, guests, pets and family life.

Then almost overnight, everything changes.

The school run starts again. Work routines return. Packed lunches, uniforms, after-school clubs and darker evenings begin to fill the week. But while the routine moves on, the home can still feel like it is carrying the summer with it.

That is why autumn can be the perfect time for a spring clean.

Merry Maids Croydon helps local households reset their homes after the summer holidays with one-off spring cleans, deep cleaning and regular domestic cleaning across Croydon and the surrounding areas.

A fresh start does not have to wait until spring

When people think of a spring clean, they often imagine March or April. But for many families, September and October are when the home needs it most.

After weeks of children being home, visitors coming and going, later mornings and busier kitchens, the return to routine can make every bit of clutter feel more noticeable.

A seasonal spring clean in autumn can help clear away that build-up. It gives kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, floors and shared spaces the attention they may not have had during the summer rush.

For anyone searching for spring cleaning Croydon, deep cleaning Croydon, autumn cleaning Croydon or one-off cleaning Croydon, Merry Maids Croydon offers practical support when the home needs a proper reset.

Helping Croydon homes get back into rhythm

A clean home can make the return to routine feel easier.

When the kitchen is fresher, the bathroom feels clean, the floors are clearer and the living spaces feel cared for, the whole week can feel less heavy.

Merry Maids Croydon understands that customers are not always looking for perfection. Often, they are looking for breathing space. They want the home to feel manageable again.

That might mean a one-off spring clean after the school holidays. It might mean a deep clean before autumn visitors arrive. Or it might be the start of regular domestic cleaning to help keep things steady through the months ahead.

Start autumn with a home that feels ready

Autumn brings more time indoors, colder evenings and busier weeks. Starting the season with a cleaner, calmer home can make a real difference.

Merry Maids Croydon helps local households move from summer mess into autumn routine with a spring clean that feels timely, practical and needed.

To book an autumn spring clean, one-off clean, deep clean or regular domestic cleaning in Croydon,

When a Home Needs Extra Care, Merry Maids Croydon Is There to Help

Some homes need more than a quick tidy.

They may need care after a busy season, support after illness, a reset before family visits, or a helping hand when everyday life has become too much. In these moments, cleaning is not just about dusting shelves or vacuuming floors. It is about helping a home feel comfortable, calm and manageable again.

Merry Maids Croydon provides trusted domestic cleaning in Croydon for customers who need practical help delivered with patience, respect and care.

From one-off cleaning to regular domestic cleaning, the local team supports homes across Croydon and the surrounding areas, helping families, older residents, professionals and carers feel more confident in the spaces they live in every day.

What does extra care cleaning mean?

Extra care cleaning can mean different things to different households.

For one customer, it may be a one-off clean after a difficult few weeks. For another, it may be regular cleaning support for an older relative. It could be help after hospital discharge, cleaning before guests arrive, or getting a home back on track after life has been especially busy.

For anyone searching for cleaning help in Croydon, a domestic cleaner in Croydon, one-off cleaning Croydon or cleaner near me, Merry Maids Croydon offers flexible support designed around the home, not a fixed idea of what cleaning should look like.

One-off cleaning when life feels full

A one-off clean can make a real difference when a home needs a reset.

It can help clear the build-up from busy family life, freshen bathrooms and kitchens, tackle overlooked areas and make living spaces feel easier to use again. It can also offer relief during sensitive times, when customers or family members may not have the time, energy or ability to manage everything themselves.

Merry Maids Croydon understands that asking for help can feel personal. Their team approaches each visit with kindness and discretion, helping customers feel supported rather than judged.

Regular cleaning for steady support

For some homes, extra care means consistency.

Regular domestic cleaning in Croydon can help keep the home feeling fresh week after week, reducing pressure on families, carers and busy households. A familiar service can also bring reassurance to older residents or customers who value routine and trust.

Whether customers need weekly, fortnightly or tailored cleaning, Merry Maids Croydon works around each household’s needs. The aim is simple. To make home feel easier to manage.

Letting someone into your home takes trust, especially when the home needs extra care.

Too Hot to Clean? Merry Maids of Croydon Can Take Care of Your Summer Clean

British summers are changing. Warmer days are lasting longer, homes can feel hotter, and few people want to spend a sunny afternoon vacuuming, scrubbing bathrooms or mopping floors.

For households across Croydon, summer is often busy enough already. Children are home from school, visitors are dropping by, holidays are being planned and gardens become an extra living space. The cleaning does not stop, but the motivation to tackle it can disappear quickly when temperatures rise.

Merry Maids of Croydon offers professional summer one-off cleans in Croydon, giving local residents a practical way to enjoy more of their summer and spend less time dealing with housework.

When the House Feels Hot, Cleaning Feels Harder

Housework can become uncomfortable during warm weather. Vacuum cleaners add heat to a room; physical cleaning feels more tiring and even simple jobs can take more effort than usual.

At the same time, summer can create more mess. Open windows allow pollen and dust into the home. Children and pets move between the garden and indoor spaces. Food preparation, barbecues and family gatherings can leave kitchens and floors needing extra attention.

A one-off summer clean allows you to hand over those jobs to the Merry Maids of Croydon team who can focus on the areas that need it most, whether that is the whole home or a few key rooms.

Ready for Visitors Without the Last Minute Rush

Summer often brings unexpected plans. A friend suggests a barbecue, family members decide to stay, or the spare room suddenly needs preparing.

That can lead to a frantic clean when you would rather be sorting food, making plans or simply enjoying the day.

Merry Maids of Croydon can help prepare your home before guests arrive. Kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces and floors can all be cleaned as part of a one-off visit, based on what matters most to you.

Your home feels ready, without you losing a full day to cleaning.

A Cleaner Home Before or After Your Holiday

The week before a holiday is rarely calm. Packing, travel documents, pet care and final errands often take priority over the house.

A summer clean before you leave can help you return to a home that feels fresh and organised. Alternatively, a one-off clean after your holiday can help deal with dust, unpacking disruption and the general feeling that everything needs attention at once.

The service is arranged around your home, your plans and the support you need.

Summer Cleaning Support Across Croydon

Merry Maids of Croydon understands that every household has different priorities. Some customers want a detailed clean throughout the property. Others need help with the rooms that take the most time, such as kitchens, bathrooms or high-use family spaces.

The local team brings the products and equipment needed, so there is less for you to prepare. The aim is to make the process simple, useful and suited to your home.

Book a Summer One-Off Clean in Croydon

When the temperature rises, you should not have to choose between enjoying the weather and keeping your home under control.

Merry Maids of Croydon can take care of the cleaning while you make the most of your summer, whether you are preparing for guests, heading on holiday or simply ready for a break from housework.

Visit their website to arrange a summer one-off clean in Croydon, call 0208 663 3268 or email croydon@merrymaids.org.uk.

Meet Debbie Walker, Owner of Merry Maids Croydon

Debbie Walker has run Merry Maids Croydon since 2003. Over the past 20 years, she has built a team of around 25, supported customers across Croydon, Purley and Coulsdon, and developed a reputation for reliable, high-quality service.

Following her 2025 Great British Franchisee Award win, we caught up with Debbie to talk about her journey over the past two decades, how the business has grown, and what sits behind the standards her customers rely on every day. For Debbie, it has always been about consistency, trust, and making sure every customer feels confident in the service they receive.

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

Before running Merry Maids Croydon, I worked across a range of roles including recruitment sales, strategic sales, telesales, food demonstrations, and key account management. It gave me a strong foundation in communication, sales, and managing people, which I still rely on every day when working with both customers and my team.

What does your business look like today?

Meet Debbie from Merry Maids CroydonI own Merry Maids of Croydon, providing professional domestic cleaning services across Croydon and Sutton. Over the years, we’ve built a strong reputation and a loyal client base.

Today, I have a team of around 25, and we focus on delivering quality, trust and a consistent service that customers know they can rely on in their homes.

Why was having structure important when building the business?

From the start, having clear systems and a way of doing things made a big difference. It meant I wasn’t trying to build everything from scratch and could focus on running and growing the business properly.

What does your role involve now?

In the early days, I was much more hands on with everything. Now, I still stay very involved, but more from a management and decision-making point of view.

I oversee the day-to-day accounts and client onboarding, and I keep a close eye on the overall direction of the business. I also stay involved in recruitment and key customer relationships, so I understand what our customers need and expect from us.

What challenges have you faced over the years?

The 2008 financial crash and Covid were both challenging. Each time, it was about adapting quickly and focusing on what customers actually needed.

During Covid, we stayed in touch with customers throughout and made sure they felt informed and supported. For the team, it was about safety and making sure they felt comfortable going back into people’s homes.

That clear communication helped build trust, and that is something customers have continued to value.

What are you most proud of?

For me, it’s the consistency. We’ve continued to grow over a long period, built a strong reputation locally, and created a business that customers trust.

Winning a Great British Franchisee Award in 2025 was a proud moment, as it reflects the standards we’ve maintained over time and the service our customers experience day to day.

How do you support your team?

It starts with having the right people. I’ve always believed that’s critical.

I focus on creating an environment where people feel supported and valued. When the team feels that, it shows in the service they deliver. Customers see familiar faces, feel comfortable, and know they are being looked after properly.

How are you involved in the local community?

Community has always mattered to me. I’ve never wanted this to be just a cleaning business. It’s important that we’re part of something locally and that the business has a positive impact beyond the service we provide.

One example that really stands out is supporting a young Ukrainian refugee, Yuliia. Unfortunately, I couldn’t offer accommodation myself, but when a friend took her in, I offered her a job. She was able to build confidence, secure a work visa, and send money home to her family, with support from the whole team.

We’ve also worked closely with the Reedham Children’s Trust on food bank drives, collecting donations from customers and matching them. One year, we supported over 100 vulnerable families, and in 2023 alone, donations totalled £1,161. It’s something our customers really get behind, and many choose to get involved.

Dementia support is another area we’ve been involved in, raising over £1,300 for Alzheimer’s Society through the Merry Maids Forget Me Knot Challenge. We also support customers who are going through difficult times, including those living with a cancer diagnosis, where sometimes the most important thing is taking one worry off their plate.

Customers want a service they can trust, but they also value knowing the business is local, responsible, and genuinely cares about the people and community around it.

What can customer expect from your service?

A consistent, reliable service from a team they can trust.

We focus on quality, clear communication, and making sure customers feel comfortable with who is coming into their home. It’s about delivering the same high standard every time, so customers can depend on us long term.

Helping People Stay at Home Longer, Merry Maids Croydon Supports Elderly Customers

For many older people, home is more than just a place. It holds memories, comfort, and a sense of identity. Staying there for as long as possible matters. At Merry Maids of Croydon, that understanding sits at the heart of everything they do.

With a long-standing presence in the local community, the team has built a reputation for more than just high-quality cleaning. They provide reassurance, routine, and a helping hand that allows elderly clients to continue living independently in the place they love most.

Supporting Independence Through Everyday Care

As people age, simple household tasks can become more challenging. Vacuuming, dusting, or keeping on top of kitchen and bathroom cleaning can feel overwhelming. That is where regular, reliable cleaning support from Merry Maids of Croydon makes a real difference.

Merry Maids of Croydon works closely with elderly clients offering a flexible approach to cleaning, with visit frequency tailored to a routine that suits their needs. This can range from weekly to monthly, depending on what suits their lifestyle and needs. It allows elderly clients to maintain a sense of control over their routine, while still having support where it matters most.

The team encourages independence by allowing clients to manage lighter, day-to-day tasks if they wish. This helps them stay active and involved in their own home. Meanwhile, Merry Maids of Croydon takes care of the more demanding, high-level cleaning, ensuring everything remains safe, hygienic, and comfortable.

This balance supports both physical wellbeing and confidence, helping clients continue living independently without feeling overwhelmed. This consistent approach helps reduce risks such as slips or trips, while also giving clients peace of mind. It allows them to focus on enjoying their home, rather than worrying about maintaining it.

A Business with a Heart

What sets the Croydon team apart is their genuine care for the people they serve. Every visit is a chance to check in, offer a friendly face, and build trust over time. Their support goes beyond cleaning. As part of their thoughtful approach, the team can carry out simple fridge checks, helping to monitor expiration dates and ensure food is fresh and safe. It is a small detail, but one that can make a meaningful difference to daily life.

Many elderly clients live alone, so those regular visits can become an important part of their week. A familiar cleaner, a quick chat, and a sense of connection all contribute to overall wellbeing.

The team understands that inviting someone into your home requires trust. That is why they take pride in their professional, respectful, and compassionate approach. Every cleaner is trained not just to deliver excellent results, but to treat each home and client with care.

Making a Difference in the Local Community

Merry Maids of Croydon has always believed in giving back. Their work with elderly clients reflects a wider commitment to supporting the local community in meaningful ways.

By helping older residents stay in their own homes for longer, they ease pressure on families and care services. They also help maintain a sense of independence that is vital for confidence and quality of life.

This focus on community is not an add-on. It is built into how the business operates every day. From flexible cleaning plans to understanding individual needs, the team works hard to make a positive impact.

Merry Maids of Croydon: Taking the Pressure Off Mums This Mother’s Day with a Spring Clean

As Mother’s Day approaches, many mums across Croydon are busy juggling work, family life, and the day-to-day running of the home. Between school runs, work commitments, and everything else that comes with raising a family, finding time for a proper spring clean can feel impossible. Instead of feeling refreshed, the thought of cleaning the whole house often adds more pressure. This Mother’s Day, Merry Maids of Croydon is helping to take that stress away with flexible Spring Clean services that focus on the areas that matter most.

A Gift That Makes Life Easier

Flowers and chocolates are always welcome, but many mums would prefer something far more practical. A professional clean can give back valuable time and remove the pressure of trying to do everything at once. Merry Maids of Croydon offers the option to focus on specific rooms or key tasks, making it the perfect gift for busy families.

Whether it is the kitchen that needs extra attention, the bathroom that never seems to stay clean, or the living room that needs a proper refresh, the team can tailor the service to suit each home. This means mums can enjoy a cleaner, more organised space without the worry of tackling the whole house themselves.

Target the Jobs That Take the Most Time

At Merry Maids of Croydon, a Spring Clean does not have to mean every room from top to bottom. Many customers choose to focus on the jobs that take the longest or feel the hardest to keep on top of. By concentrating on the areas that need the most work, the cleaning makes a real difference without adding disruption to family life.

Merry Maids of Croydon can support with:
• Deep cleaning kitchens, including cupboards, worktops, and appliances
• Refreshing bathrooms, tiles, and hard-to-reach areas
• Dusting and polishing living areas
• Cleaning skirting boards, doors, and high surfaces & more

This flexible approach means every clean is designed around what the customer needs most.

Professional Support You Can Rely On

Merry Maids of Croydon provides a professionally trained, insured, Alzheimer’s trained, reliable team who understand that every home is different. Some families want help preparing for visitors, others want support keeping on top of daily life, and many simply want to give mum a break this Mother’s Day.

A professional clean can remove the pressure of trying to fit everything into an already busy week. With the right support, even one room can make the whole house feel calmer and more organised.

Less Stress, More Time Together

Mother’s Day should be about spending time together, not worrying about housework. By booking a targeted Spring Clean or help with key household tasks, families can give mums the chance to relax and enjoy the day without feeling like there is still a long list of jobs waiting.

Merry Maids of Croydon offers flexible cleaning services designed around real life, giving families the support they need when they need it most.

Book a Spring Clean This Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day, give the gift of time, space, and a sparkling clean room without the stress. Whether it is one room, a few key jobs, or regular support, Merry Maids of Croydon can tailor the clean to suit every home.

Merry Maids South Surrey Enters a New Chapter Under Siva and Ayranna Kugathas

Merry Maids South Surrey Enters a New Chapter Under Siva Kugathas

Merry Maids South Surrey is entering a new stage of growth under new ownership. The business is now led by Siva Kugathas and his daughter, Ayranna Kugathas, who also own Merry Maids Inverness and Merry Maids Aberdeen.

With experience across multiple territories, Siva brings a strong focus on service standards, customer experience, and steady expansion. His existing businesses have grown through clear processes, structured training, and building reliable local teams that deliver consistent results. The aim in South Surrey is to build on the area’s established reputation while maintaining high standards across every clean.

Ayranna leads operations across all three territories. She stepped into a leadership role when the family first acquired the Inverness business and has since overseen the continued development and expansion of the group. Her focus is on consistency, team support, and making sure every clean meets the same standard, whether in South Surrey, Inverness, or Aberdeen.

The approach centres on attention to detail, dependable service, and ensuring customers receive the same quality every visit. Growth plans will focus on reaching more households across Surrey while protecting the consistency that customers expect. By investing in team development and maintaining clear operational standards, Merry Maids South Surrey is positioned to strengthen customer satisfaction and expand its presence within the local community.

What customers can expect under the new leadership?

My priority is to support the existing team, maintain high standards, and make sure every home is cleaned properly, every time.” She added, “We also want to reach more households across Surrey. Growth will come from doing the basics well and delivering dependable service day in, day out.”

Vikki, Brand Leader at Merry Maids UK, welcomed the appointment.

“South Surrey remains in safe hands,” she said. “Customers will see continuity, professionalism, and a clear commitment to quality as the business continues to grow.”

Merry Maids of Croydon Celebrates Over 20 Years of Award-Winning Domestic Cleaning Excellence

If you are looking for a trusted domestic cleaning service in Croydon, you want more than a tidy home. You want reliability, consistency, and a team you can feel comfortable welcoming into your space. Merry Maids of Croydon has delivered exactly that since 2003, backed by over 20 years of experience and recognised for award winning leadership and professional standards.

For local families, busy professionals, and older residents, the business has become a dependable part of everyday life. From regular weekly cleans to tailored support for customers with more sensitive needs, the focus remains the same: quality, care, and attention to detail.

A Long-Established Domestic Cleaning in Croydon

Since launching in 2003, Merry Maids of Croydon has built a strong local reputation. As part of the wider Merry Maids network, customers benefit from national brand standards combined with local ownership and accountability.

In 2017, the business received the North Star Growth Award and the highly prestigious Dallen Peterson Franchisee of the Year Award. This accolade is presented to one franchisee across the entire ServiceMaster network who demonstrates the highest achievement in professional management, growth, customer care, and commitment to brand values.

Merry Maids of Croydon has received consistent recognition from its franchisor for both performance and culture. The business was awarded the Resilience Award in 2020, followed by Best in Class Customer Service and the People Award, Great Place to Work in 2022. In 2023 was also named a Great Place to Invest. More recently, Merry Maids of Croydon was named a finalist in the 2023 BFA HSBC British Franchise Awards and won the Great British Franchise Award 2025. These achievements reflect a clear commitment to high standards, customer care, and meaningful community involvement.

A Business with a Heart

For owner Debbie, improving a customer’s quality of life goes beyond cleaning. She describes the company as a business with a heart.

The team has played a key role in the nationwide Merry Maids Forget Me Knot Challenge, raising over £1,300 in just six weeks for Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia Friends. Supporting customers living with dementia is a cause close to the business. The team understands that routine, familiarity, and trust matter. Consistent cleaning visits, familiar faces, and clear communication help create a calm and reassuring environment for vulnerable customers and their families.

Merry Maids of Croydon also supports customers living with a cancer diagnosis. The team recognises that treatment can leave people exhausted and overwhelmed. By taking care of the home, they help reduce physical strain and emotional pressure at a difficult time. Practical support, such as maintaining a clean, hygienic environment, allows customers to focus on their health and recovery. The approach is discreet, respectful, and tailored to individual circumstances.

Alongside this, the business has supported local food bank initiatives during the cost of living crisis and, more quietly, provided employment support that has helped a Ukrainian refugee rebuild stability in their life.

Trusted Support for Sensitive Needs

Many households require reassurance as much as practical support. This may include elderly clients, customers living with dementia, or families supporting vulnerable relatives.

While not a care provider, Merry Maids of Croydon approaches every home with professionalism and compassion. Staff are trained, uniformed, and fully insured. Strong staff retention means customers often see familiar team members, building trust over time.

This continuity offers peace of mind. You know who is coming into your home, and you know the standards they uphold.

For over two decades, Merry Maids of Croydon has combined professional domestic cleaning services with genuine care for customers and the community. When you choose them, you are choosing experience, recognised leadership, and a team committed to looking after both your home and the people within it.

Why Professional Spring Cleaning Services in Croydon Matter All Year Round?

It is easy to forget about a spring clean. Life gets busy, routines take over, and deep cleaning slips down the list. Yet homes still carry the hidden traces of everyday living all year round. Dust settles, cupboards gather clutter, and those overlooked corners quietly build up. This is where Merry Maids of Croydon steps in, helping local households rediscover that fresh, reset feeling whenever they need it, not just in spring.

While spring is traditionally linked with renewal, a spring clean is not tied to a date on the calendar. It is about restoring balance to your home, creating space to breathe, and bringing back a sense of calm. Whether it is after a busy winter, a hectic summer, or simply when your home feels in need of attention, a deep clean can transform how your space looks and feels at any time of year.

Why A Spring Clean Still Matters?

During colder months, homes are often closed up, with heating running and fresh air limited. Over time, dust, allergens, and everyday grime settle into places you rarely notice. A thorough spring clean clears this build-up and refreshes your living environment, making your home feel lighter and more welcoming, whatever the season.

A Professional Spring Clean From Merry Maids Of Croydon Typically Includes Careful Attention To:

    • Kitchens, including cupboards, appliances, and worktops
    • Bathrooms, with a focus on tiles, grout, and fixtures
    • Skirting boards, doors, and frequently touched surfaces
    • High and low dusting across every room
    • Additional areas tailored to your home and needs
    • Internal windows and window frames

Support For Busy Croydon Households

Many households would love to tackle a full deep clean, but struggle to find the time. Work, family life, and social commitments often mean the job gets postponed or rushed. Professional domestic cleaning offers a simple solution, delivering results that are hard to achieve when time is limited.

Merry Maids of Croydon provides flexible cleaning services designed around you. Whether you need a one-off deep clean or regular ongoing support, each service is shaped to fit your home, your routine, and your priorities.

A Trusted Local Presence

For over 20 years, Merry Maids of Croydon has been caring for homes across Croydon and nearby areas. All cleaning is carried out by ethically vetted, professionally trained staff, giving homeowners confidence and peace of mind from the moment the door opens.

If you live in Croydon or the surrounding areas and feel your home could benefit from a spring clean, now is the perfect time to book, no matter the season.

How Merry Maids of Croydon Supports Customers Living with a Cancer Diagnosis

Merry Maids business owner Debbie Walker shares how her business supports members of the local community with cancer through compassionate cleaning services.

At Merry Maids, we know that cleaning gets personal. Inviting us into your home is a big deal, no matter what, as it also means providing a window into your life.

So, for many of our customers, especially those whom we see regularly, we’re there through the good and the bad times.

In this blog post, Debbie Walker from Merry Maids of Croydon shares how they provide support for customers across their community living with a cancer diagnosis in the family and in the home through compassionate cleaning services.

Cleaning in Hospital Flats

For many years, the team have been cleaning for a local hospital, who offer charity flats for children and young people with cancer for families to stay with them at the hospital or during treatments. Our teams have been working hard for a number of years to clean between residents and visitors to ensure these spaces are kept clean and hygienic for patients and families alike.

In-home support

For the majority of our customers, the support we provide is in their own homes. Over the years, Merry Maids of Croydon has provided in-home support to customers with cancer in various ways. No situation is ever the same, and some customers may choose to book in with us for help with their cleaning after they receive their diagnosis, while in some cases, we may have been cleaning for someone for a long time, and we adapt our services to support them when they are diagnosed.

We have adapted our services to meet the specific needs of our customers by offering a tailored approach to cleaning specifications and frequency. We place particular emphasis on maintaining enhanced hygiene in high-touch and high-traffic areas, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Furthermore, our team offer additional protection to our customers by wearing appropriate PPE such as disposable face masks or gloves where requested.

We aim to provide our cleaning services as flexibly as possible around the timings of your appointments, so whether you want us to clean while you’re out, at the hospital or when you’re at home, we’ll work around what suits you best.

No matter your or your loved ones’ situation, one thing is consistent: the care we provide. We know that when you’re living with cancer, the last thing you want to worry about is the cleaning. We aim to alleviate that worry while continuously providing a clean and hygienic environment for you to come home to after treatments.

Merry Maids UK’s Forget Me Knot 2025 for Alzheimer’s Society

Merry Maids UK has begun our third annual Forget Me Knot Challenge to support Alzheimer’s Society.

Alzheimer’s is commonly misunderstood as a natural part of ageing.

However, it is a deadly neurological disease that is currently the UK’s biggest killer, estimated to affect 1 in 2 people in the UK in their lifetime.

This year, we’ve once again partnered with the Alzheimer’s Society to help them provide help and hope to the 900,000+ people living with dementia in the UK.

Throughout 2025, at Merry Maids UK and now also across ServiceMaster Brands UK, we’re working closely with our friends at the Alzheimer’s Society to raise a further £10,000 as part of our commitment to supporting them in their cause.

We are also continuing to attend specialist dementia information workshops for our business owners and their cleaners across the UK to deliver dementia-conscious cleaning services to people with Alzheimer’s and dementia, making us the only certified dementia-conscious cleaners in the UK.

And as part of our fundraising commitment, our businesses nationwide are again undertaking the Forget Me Knot Challenge.

But what is the Forget Me Knot Challenge? And how can you get involved?

This blog post has all the details.

What is the Forget Me Knot Challenge?

The Alzheimer’s Society is represented by the forget-me-not flower, long associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia due to its impact on memory loss.

The Forget Me Knot Challenge is a sponsored virtual relay in which staff and owners from our businesses across the UK run, walk, or cycle the equivalent total mileage between each of our businesses, tying them together and raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society: creating the Forget Me Knot.

Why hire a professional cleaner for a moving-out clean?

Moving on out? Don’t let the cleaning stop you in your tracks with a moving-out clean.

Moving home is widely agreed upon to be one of life’s most stressful experiences.

In fact, according to Nicky Lidbetter, chief executive of charity Anxiety UK,

“Most of us like familiarity, routine and order. When you’re moving, you have none of those.”

So, why on Earth would you add to that stress by cleaning the whole house yourself?

Though it is a further expense, there are several benefits to hiring a professional home cleaning service for a moving-out cleaning – which our experts have put together in this handy blog post.

  1. Saving you time and energy

Hiring a professional for a moving-out clean saves you time and energy better spent on the other strenuous tasks required to move home.

Let’s face it, when moving, you’re being pulled in multiple directions, and you have a million jobs to do; the last thing you want is to clean the house from top to bottom.

Especially when moving has been linked to high levels of stress and fatigue that can often lead to sleep deprivation.

Your body could likely do with a break.

Whether giving you time to focus on other jobs or to take the strain off, the time you save with a professional cleaner is the time you get back!

It leaves you one less thing to worry about, relieving some of the heavy mental burdens we carry when moving home.

  1. Bespoke cleaning

Professional cleaners like Merry Maids UK have the tools, insurance, expertise and skills to deliver a premium service with every moving-out clean.

So, you know you’re in safe hands.

We account for your needs and priorities for the property and work to that in the time that suits you best.

Whatever time is available to you, we can support you with whatever helps you the most.

Even if that means working around moving companies, we’re used to working with third parties on moving days.

Be it the whole house, or specific rooms that you want to ensure are sparkling or to top up cleaning you’ve already done yourself.

Whether it’s a full spring clean well ahead of the move or a quick top and tail on the day, we will be there to handle whatever you need at a time that suits you.

So, if you’ve packed your vacuum and cleaning supplies in a box to be moved, we’ll be there on your moving day with our bespoke products and equipment to ensure you leave your home sparkling clean.

Often operating in teams and trained in efficiency while maintaining the best results, a professional cleaner is also likely to cultivate a higher standard of cleaning in a shorter time than can be achieved on your own.

  1. A proper send-off

For many of us, a home is something to take pride in – and that doesn’t change just because you’ve moved.

As Debbie Walker from Merry Maids of Croydon can attest.

She says for her customers who have benefitted from moving cleaning, it helps them leave their home – which they have poured so much love and care into over the years – in a state that feels appropriate and (dare we say) respectful.

Which is why her team call them “courtesy cleans”.

With a professional cleaner, you’re working alongside people you can trust to deliver reliable service when you need it most.

It’s also an emotional time particularly, given the attachment we may have to a property.,

After all, home is where the heart is.

In that sense, a professional moving-out cleaning may be your way of caring for the home you love and giving it a proper send-off.

Need a professional moving out clean?

Whether for emotional, practical or well-being purposes, there are many reasons to hire a professional cleaner before your move.

If you’re moving home and would benefit from the support of professionals with over 40 years of experience delivering premium home cleaning across the UK, find your nearest Merry Maids business or book online today.

Is it wrong to clean before your cleaner arrives?

What is the appropriate etiquette for cleaning before your cleaner arrives? Our experts weigh in.

In our experience, there can be a lot of tentativeness around the proper etiquette when it comes to getting a home cleaner.

Particularly when it comes to the question of whether or not you need to tidy your home before the cleaner arrives.

It’s tricky, as it seems counterintuitive, but there are many reasons people often cite as to why they want to clean before our experts have even set foot in the home.

Informed by over 20 years of experience as a Merry Maids business owner in Croydon, in this blog post, Debbie Walker answers frequently asked questions about cleaning for your cleaner.

Is it wrong to clean before your cleaner arrives?

“At Merry Maids of Croydon, we are here to help you with whatever you need,” says Debbie.

It is definitely not wrong to clean your home before a professional cleaner arrives. However, we are here to help you, and we don’t want you to spend precious time or energy doing the tasks that we are very happy to do for you.

Many people have that psychological feeling of guilt that they are asking someone to help them. We always say, “Please don’t worry. You are helping us by letting us help you.”

It’s what we do, and it’s helping keep our staff busy and employed. So please don’t do too much the day or night before a clean.

What will a professional cleaner typically do and not do to clean a home?

Services carried out by a professional cleaner will vary depending on the provider. But there will always, naturally, be some overlap. At Merry Maids…

We do:

On every visit, a Merry Maids team will dust, wash, sanitise and vacuum your home using our own equipment and specially formulated products. Our services depend on the type of cleaning you require, as some customers may book for a one-off service and some we see regularly.

Regular cleans are frequent visits, typically weekly, fortnightly or 4-weekly. They involve:

  • Dusting – ornaments, electrical goods, furniture, skirting boards.
  • Vacuuming – carpets and soft furnishings.
  • Emptying wastebaskets and ashtrays.
  • Bathrooms – suites, tiles, mirrors, and deodorising.
  • Kitchens – surfaces, cupboards (exterior), white goods (exterior).

One-offs, which can be spring cleans or deep cleans, end-of-tenancies or builders cleans, are ideal when moving in or out of a property, preparing your home to sell, having the in-laws visiting, in the aftermath of building or renovation works or needing a complete freshen-up. Above and beyond the services included in a regular cleaning, they can also include:

  • Cleaning out kitchen cupboards.
  • Vacuuming curtains.
  • Cleaning brass and silver.
  • Washing walls.
  • Cleaning inside windows.
  • Cleaning inside and/or defrosting fridges and freezers.

We don’t:

As a rule of thumb, we don’t typically:

  • Deal with bodily fluids (human or animal) from a health and safety point of view.
  • Clean external windows.
  • Clean anything that could affect the health and safety of the staff, e.g. cleaning a very high window that cannot be reached.

Things to do before a cleaner arrives

Before arriving at your home, we recommend that you pick things up off the floors, which can be difficult, we know, with young children. But this allows us to move around the home efficiently and safely. We’ll also do an initial risk assessment to cover these areas, so we know what to expect from your home and can clean safely.

How can someone feel less embarrassed before a professional cleaner arrives?

Part of feeling less embarrassed is having a good working relationship and communication with your professional cleaning company,” says Debbie.

“At Merry Maids of Croydon, we take the time to get to know you and your circumstances. By sharing with us your concerns, we can help alleviate them. We understand that for many reasons, from mental and physical health, work pressures or family circumstances, the tidiness or cleanliness of your home can be affected. Ideally, before we clean, we offer a free, no-obligation quotation to visit you in your home, allowing us to get to know you and understand how we can help you.”

Our staff recruitment is vital in helping you feel more comfortable. Our cleaners need to be understanding and non-judgmental, and have great communication skills to put you at ease. By only employing cleaners with these skills and who meet these standards, we help you, as our customers, by providing compassionate, understanding staff to do the best possible job while putting you at ease.

To support this, we offer regularity by cleaning teams so that it’s possible to build up a good relationship, so if things are not as you would want them to be when the cleaning arrives, you are not embarrassed to tell us that you had a really bad night’s sleep, for example.

Considering getting a cleaner?

Why should I get my home professionally spring-cleaned?

The benefits of a professional spring-cleaning service.

We don’t know about you, but we’re ready for spring.

It’s when nature washes away the cold of winter and freshens up for a brighter year ahead.

The flowers start to bloom, and the temperatures begin to rise. What’s not to love?

Preparing for spring also means it’s time to start thinking about your spring cleaning.

It may not always be pleasant, but the practice of getting down and dirty to clear out the clutter and the cobwebs of the past year is a vital part of the springtime.

Though the adage often cited is ‘if you want a job done properly, do it yourself,’ we’re here to tell you there is another way.

In this blog post, our cleaning experts walk you through the benefits of hiring a professional cleaning service for your spring cleaning.

What’s involved in spring cleaning?

Spring cleans are a deeper and more comprehensive cleaning than a regular maintenance clean and are all about clearing out the house at a deeper level to prepare for the year ahead.

Regular cleaning keeps your home in top condition, while deep cleaning gives that extra oomph and sparkle to make your home truly SHINE.

Our expert deep and spring cleans are ideal when moving in or out of a property, preparing your home to sell, having the in-laws visiting, in the aftermath of building or renovation works or needing a complete freshen-up.

They can include:
  • Cleaning out kitchen cupboards
  • Vacuuming curtains
  • Cleaning inside windows
  • Cleaning inside and or defrosting fridges and freezers
  • Washing internal doors and window frames
  • Moving heavier furniture to clean behind (where possible)

How do the professionals spring clean your home?

Professional cleaning services like those at Merry Maids use experienced professionals trained to deliver excellent-value home cleaning with a tried and tested methodology and products to produce the best results.

On every visit, your Merry Maids team will dust, wash, sanitise and vacuum your home using our equipment and specially formulated products.

We operate a strict cleaning process that utilises coloured cloths for different areas of the home to avoid cross-contamination.

All our maids are trained in Health and Safety regulations and procedures* to use our products and equipment

*Practices may vary by area due to area-specific considerations.

How much does it cost to have my home professionally cleaned?

There is no standard pricing index used to determine domestic cleaning service fees.

Some businesses charge by the hour, while others will charge for the scope of the cleaning involved.

Either way, professional cleaning services will determine their prices based on the following factors:

  1. Size
  2. Layout and number of rooms
  3. Style of home
  4. Number of residents
  5. Factoring of children and pets
  6. Frequency of cleaning
  7. Location and travel distance from business location

To see the value of professional spring-cleaning services in your area, contact your nearest Merry Maids business for a free, no-obligation quotation.

Why pay when you can do it yourself, you ask.

We’ll tell you…

  1. Professional spring cleaning saves you time and effort

There’s no doubt about it… spring cleaning is a massive undertaking.

Especially if you’re already juggling family and childcare responsibilities, work, and the basics like socialisation and a good amount of rest.

Whatever your idea is of time well spent, we know it doesn’t involve doing the cleaning.

Entrusting your spring cleaning to professionals can save you hours of effort and give you time to focus on what matters most.

  1. The bespoke and professional touch

At Merry Maids, we love to clean. It’s what we do.

Over our 30 years of delivering home cleaning expertise, we have refined the experience had by our customers to a fine art.

We know that each home and each individual we clean for is unique.

So, we go above and beyond to ensure you get the clean you deserve, not just the clean you expect, and work with you to understand the specific needs of you and your home and work tirelessly to ensure that you’re more than happy with gleaming results – at a time that suits you.

Professional cleaning staff like ours are trained with the latest (and often exclusive) products, tools, and best practices to make every room in the house sparkle.

  1. Professional spring cleaning is good for your health

Aside from the obvious aesthetic benefit, a good spring cleaning is also good for your health!

According to Verywell Mind, a cluttered and dirty environment can be harmful to your mental health, as it has been scientifically linked to higher rates of stress, depression and anxiety, as well as decreased rates of focus.

In addition, studies have shown that having a clean home typically is the mark of healthier inhabitants.

Cleanliness in the home has even been found to be a better predictor of good health for the residents than the walkability of its neighbourhood!

Cleaning can also improve the air quality of your home.

This is extra vital in the spring as the winter often involves more time spent inside with less fresh air in the home – causing more dust on the property.

The equipment used by professional cleaners is designed to eliminate harmful dust in the home and can benefit your health and air quality.

  1. Professional support with additional health requirements

We know that people aren’t always able to clean for themselves.

Following our successful Forget Me Knot Challenge last year – where our businesses across the UK raised over £4000 for the Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia Friends in a matter of weeks – Merry Maids UK have this year become an official partner in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.

At Merry Maids, our staff understand the specific requirements of the over 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK and ensure their homes are clean, healthy places for them to live, maintained by friendly, local people who support them with any additional requirements that come with dementia and other conditions – even if that means being someone to make a cup of tea and have a chat with.
