Merry Maids Cambridge and Ely Opens Its Doors with Years of Cleaning Experience Behind It

A familiar name in professional cleaning is taking its experience into local homes, as Merry Maids Cambridge and Ely officially launches across the area.

At the heart of the new business is owner Malcolm, who is no stranger to the cleaning industry or the communities of Cambridge and Ely.

Malcolm has been involved in ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services, providing commercial cleaning services to businesses across Cambridge, Ely and the surrounding area.

For many years, he has seen first-hand what customers expect from a professional cleaning company. Consistency matters. Trust matters. Attention to detail matters. Most importantly, people want to know that the team looking after their space genuinely care.

Now, Malcolm is taking that experience into people’s homes with the launch of Merry Maids Cambridge and Ely.

“Cleaning has been a huge part of our business for many years, so bringing Merry Maids to Cambridge and Ely felt like a natural next step,” said Malcolm.

“We know what a high-quality clean should look like, but we also understand that cleaning someone’s home is very personal. Customers need to feel comfortable with the people coming through their door.

“We already have an experienced team behind us, and I’m excited to bring everything we’ve learned over the years into residential cleaning and help more people locally.”

A new home cleaning service for Cambridge and Ely

Merry Maids Cambridge and Ely will provide professional domestic cleaning services for households across the local area.

The team can support customers with:

  • Regular domestic cleaning
  • One-off cleaning
  • Deep cleaning
  • Spring cleaning
  • Moving home cleans
  • Additional cleaning support during busy periods

Cleaning can be tailored to suit each household, whether a customer wants ongoing weekly support or simply needs help getting on top of the home.

What can customers expect?

For Malcolm, the launch is about bringing professional standards into the home while keeping the service personal.

Customers can expect trained and experienced cleaners, a reliable cleaning service shaped around their individual priorities.

There is also the reassurance of knowing Merry Maids Cambridge and Ely is backed by an established local cleaning business and the wider Merry Maids UK network.

Vikki, Brand Leader for Merry Maids UK, said:

“We are delighted that customers across Cambridge and Ely will now have access to a trusted local Merry Maids team that understands how important it is to feel comfortable and confident inviting cleaners into your home.

“Malcolm and his team bring valuable cleaning experience, but more importantly, they understand that every customer’s home, routine and priorities are different. Their focus will be on delivering a reliable, high-quality service that makes life easier for local households.

“Whether someone needs regular support, a one-off clean or help during a particularly busy time, Merry Maids Cambridge and Ely is here to give customers more time, more peace of mind and a home they can enjoy.”

For local families, professionals, older residents and anyone who simply wants to spend less of their free time cleaning, the arrival of Merry Maids Cambridge and Ely means there is now another trusted option close to home.

And for Malcolm, it marks the next stage of a cleaning story that started years ago.

Premium Cleaning Business Launches in Aberdeen under established brand and entrepreneur

Merry Maids domestic cleaning business opens in Aberdeen for the first time.

Tired of spending your time cleaning?

The world’s biggest domestic cleaning brand has opened its doors in Aberdeen, bringing premium cleaning services to the area under the ownership of a multi-award-winning entrepreneur.

Merry Maids has been the biggest name in home cleaning for over 30 years, with businesses worldwide dedicated to helping local people spend less time cleaning and more time doing the things they love.

With a branch already established in Inverness, the owners, father-daughter duo Siva and Ayranna Kugathas, have launched a brand-new business in Aberdeen, bringing the same services, smiles and standards to the area.

We sat down with them to delve into their plans for the business.

What Merry Maids can do for you

As experts in domestic cleaning, our teams offer premium cleaning that only comes from a worldwide brand, but is provided by the local people who tailor their services to suit you and who know what it means to live and work in your community.

Whether you need a:

Our team of professional cleaning experts will be on hand to handle the cleaning so you can focus on what matters most to them.

Customer Guarantee

Siva and Ayranna want to assure Merry Maids Aberdeen customers of the high-quality cleaning they can expect from the business and the expertly trained staff.

“ Merry Maids is a trusted brand, has been there for long enough, and we do a very good job. We don’t let people down.”

“The cleaners are well trained, and you know what to expect each time: good quality and consistency,” Ayranna agrees.

Expertise and Experience

Siva has been the owner of ServiceMaster Clean AAA since 2017. One of the largest ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services businesses in the UK, the contract cleaning business covers 19 territories spanning from Inverness to Dover, having grown from just a single territory in Guildford.

Ayranna recently completed a degree in Information Technology for Business, all while working as a Human Resources Manager at ServiceMaster Clean AAA. Here, she has not only overseen HR responsibilities from recruitment, training, and employee relations, but also supported many other areas of the business.

“This has been a huge advantage in preparing me for business ownership. As the HR Manager, I’ve developed strong people management skills, dealt with a variety of staffing challenges, and ensured compliance with employment law and best practice—all of which are crucial for running a successful team.”

Beyond HR, Ayranna has also been involved in many other aspects of the business, such as supporting operational decisions, helping with client relationships, and contributing to strategy discussions. This hands-on experience has given her a real understanding of what makes for great cleaning.

Siva and Ayranna have already been running the established Merry Maids business in Inverness and have now expanded their operation to include Aberdeen, creating jobs in the local area and offering residents the ability to book compassionate, professional, and premium home cleaning services from trusted experts.

Siva, in turn, is excited to bring the same energy and growth that he has instilled across his other businesses.

“ I’m really excited because it’s a new journey for me as well. I’m in my fifties, and I have done a few of these in the past. But this is something new.  I’m really excited to go and do the same again.”

Working in the Community

For Siva, this includes working closely with the local community to support local initiatives and people to thrive.

In the past seven years at ServiceMaster Clean, Siva has worked hard to make a difference and give back to the communities he serves, whether through multiple fundraising initiatives, providing cleaning and sponsorship for the local YMCA in Guildford to allow them to provide stable dwellings for homeless people in the area, or working with a local charity to help vulnerable children learn about the dangers of drugs and knife crime.

The business already has big plans to contribute to Merry Maids and ServiceMaster Clean’s charity of the year, Alzheimer’s Society, by participating in this year’s Forget Me Knot Challenge, which has, over the last two years, raised over £14,000 for Alzheimer’s Society.

Merry Maids Brand Leader Vikki Donnachie says she is ecstatic to welcome Siva and Ayranna to the brand:

“I am very much looking forward to welcoming Siva and Ayranna to the Merry Maids network and building on their existing success within ServiceMaster, which I am certain they will do through their commitment to their community, staff and service standards.”

Merry Maids AAA Steps Up for the Forget Me Knot Challenge

Making steps to raise awareness for the Forget Me Knot Challenge at Merry Maids Inverness.

The AAA team from Merry Maids Inverness have made a grand start to their tenure under the new ownership of Siva and Aryanna Kugathas, taking part in a team walk as part of this year’s Forget Me Knot Challenge to raise awareness and funds for those living with dementia in the UK.

The Forget Me Knot Challenge

Alzheimer’s Society is symbolised by the forget-me-not flower, which has long been associated with Alzheimer’s and dementia due to its connection to memory loss. The Forget Me Knot Challenge is a sponsored virtual relay where staff and owners from various UK businesses run, walk, or cycle the total mileage between each location, linking them together and raising funds for Alzheimer’s Society: creating the Forget Me Knot. Walking to raise awareness and honour those affected, the team showed that even small steps can make a meaningful difference.

Members of staff had a fantastic time walking together at Epsom Downs Racecourse, enjoying the views, fresh air, and great company while racking up around 12,000+ steps each in two hours. Even those who couldn’t be there in person joined in by walking in their own local towns, making it a fun, inclusive, and heartwarming team effort that brought everyone together in spirit.

The walk was a lovely chance for everyone to catch up outside of work and enjoy the fresh air. With plenty of laughter, the team came away feeling closer and proud of raising the miles on the Forget Me Knot Challenge.

Merry Maids AAA Staff Awarded for Dedication to Business

Andrea Morland from Merry Maids Inverness has been recognised for going above and beyond the call of duty in her dedication to the business.

Alongside winning an award for making the business a great place to work, Merry Maids Inverness Office Manager Andrea Morland was recognised for going the extra mile to support the business in the last year, taking home the Merry Maids North Star Above and Beyond Award at the ServiceMaster Thrive in 2025 conference and gala evening.

Going the extra mile

This extra special award, sponsored and awarded by Capital Fleet Solutions, celebrates an individual who consistently goes the extra mile: embracing change without hesitation, stepping up without complaint, and always moving forward with purpose and positivity.

Andrea was recognised as the worthy winner for demonstrating her unwavering dedication and truly embodying the spirit of going above and beyond.

Andrea joined the business as a cleaner in 2023 under then-owner Bill Grant.

Rising through the ranks as the Office Manager, Andrea took the reins of the business and led it forward with a deep understanding of its services and the community it supports in the interim between the passing of the torch to new owners Siva and Ayranna Kugathas.

Evolving Role

Before having children, Andrea worked as a Sales and Marketing Manager within the hospitality industry and fitted her work around them while building up a small beauty business.

With both children now in their early twenties and starting their careers, Andrea joined Merry Maids as a cleaner when looking for a job that would fit around her other commitments.

“What appealed to me initially was the flexibility of the shift pattern and the variety of the job. It is never dull,” she says.

“Merry Maids is a very welcoming place, and you quickly become part of a team providing a much-needed service.”

Last year, Andrea’s role within the business changed, and she started spending more time in the office supporting the previous Branch Manager, Pheobe.

With Phoebe moving on to new pastures, Andrea stepped into a management role to drive Merry Maids Inverness to new heights.

Andrea says the advantage of her experience is that she can visualise the homes and has met most clients from a cleaning point of view.

She knows what it means to deliver the service that we provide, both from a practical point of view and the impact it can have on the people we serve.

Stepping up to meet every new opportunity presented to her, Andrea says she was still surprised to win the award.

”It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster three months being in this role, so to get an award tonight is quite unexpected, but I’d like to thank  my team. I’ve got some great girls doing a fantastic job, and of course, my fellow Office Manager, Kelly Ramsey. Thank you very much.”

Merry Maids Businesses Awarded for Investing in Their Communities

Two Merry Maids businesses celebrated winning awards for investing in their communities at the ServiceMaster Thrive in 2025 Gala.

Merry Maids in Inverness and Bedford were recognised for their dedication to supporting their customers and their staff, winning coveted Merry Maids Invest awards at the ServiceMaster Thrive in 2025 conference and gala evening.

This blog post has all the details.

A Great Place to Work

Merry Maids of Inverness, represented at the awards by Office Manager Andrea Morland, were awarded for their successes in making the business a great place for its staff to thrive.

Collecting the award, Andrea, who oversees the day-to-day running of the business, has united the team under her leadership since taking the reins as Office Manager last year, said:

“ I think it’s just really important that the staff like coming to work. Cleaning isn’t the easiest job, but I’ve tried to make work a very friendly place.”

To do this, Andrea has increased both the communication within the business and created more opportunities for teambuilding and fun at work, alongside, naturally, delivering an exceptional service. This includes creating a morning meeting where the office team communicate with the cleaning staff and discusses the jobs of the day and regular activities like a quiz and playing games to round off the week on a Friday. All of this has made Merry Maids Inverness a great place to work and a place where excellence can prosper.

“I think we have a very dedicated team in the office, and it’s thriving,” Andrea adds.

A Great Place to Invest

The owner of Merry Maids Bedford, Mercy Ikeji, has made headlines this year for the business’ unique dedication to dementia support, where beyond our expert and compassionate cleaning for those living with dementia, she and her team have offered free cleanings to those living with dementia who cannot clean for themselves and are finding their quality of life impacted by the disease.

Collecting the award, she said:

”The training for Merry Maids, and Alzheimer’s for all our cleaners has really helped our cleaners to understand how to clean for those with dementia in a caring way. Most of the people clean for can see that our cleaners are caring cleaners and that has really made an impact, especially with the charity cleaning, where we support people in the community with those kinds of needs with a free cleaning and give back.”

“I want to thank Merry Maids, and our brand manager, Vikki, for the initiative and partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, and my team for actually coming out to do the free clean to support the people we serve.”

Win a Free Cleaning!

As a celebration of Merry Maids Bedford’s first anniversary and our work alongside Alzheimer’s Society we would like you to nominate someone who is living with or caring for someone with Alzheimer’s/dementia who you believe deserves a FREE 5hr clean.

T&C’s – All Nominee’s must be over the age of 18 and live within the Bedfordshire area. The prize is non-transferable and non-negotiable. Entries close on 31st Oct.

Meet the new owners of Merry Maids Inverness

Say hello to the father-daughter duo taking the reins at Merry Maids Inverness.

Siva and Ayranna Kugathas are no strangers to the technicalities of operating a successful cleaning business.

Siva is the owner of ServiceMaster Clean AAA, one of the largest ServiceMaster Clean Contract Services franchise operations in the UK, which covers 19 territories spanning from Inverness to Dover. Having grown from just a single territory in Guildford, which he purchased in 2017, Siva is turning his hand to home cleaning by heading up an existing Merry Maids business in Inverness.

He is joined on his new venture by his daughter Ayranna, who has been working in AAA, specialising in HR, and is now taking charge of Merry Maids.

In this blog post, we sat down with them to delve into their plans for the business and the value they will deliver to new and existing customers and staff.

Meet Siva and Ayranna

As an astute businessman with 20 years of experience in franchising for brands like KFC and Pizza Hut before buying his ServiceMaster Clean franchise, Siva knew the success that could be achieved through investing in a successful franchise.

Initially doubling the size of his operation in just 18 months, he has also acquired 18 further territories in seven years. As a top-performing franchisee,  he is committed to exceeding client expectations and driving the business.

Ayranna recently completed a degree in Information Technology for Business, all while working as a Human Resources Manager at ServiceMaster Clean AAA, where she’s not only overseen HR responsibilities like recruitment, training, and employee relations, but also supported many other areas of the business.

“Because it’s a multi-territory franchise, I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in day-to-day operations, client management, and strategic planning. That experience gave me a strong understanding of how a service-based business runs, from both a people and performance perspective,” she says.

This hands-on experience has given her a real understanding of what it takes to run and grow a business. Ayranna, having already had experience at a ServiceMaster Clean franchise, also understands the systems, values, and support structure that come with being part of the ServiceMaster brand.

“While Merry Maids is a different type of service, the core principles of delivering high-quality, reliable cleaning and managing a team are very similar,” she says.

“From contract cleaning, I’ve learned how to manage teams, handle feedback, and assist in delivering high standards—all of which can be applied to home cleaning. And stepping into a bigger role in the business is both exciting and meaningful,” she adds.

“It’s an opportunity to build something alongside my dad, who has years of experience and a strong track record in the industry. I’m grateful to be learning directly from him while also bringing in my own perspective.”

For Siva, working alongside Ayranna is also a huge achievement:

“In my view, parents enjoy their children’s success more than their own success. So, to have my daughter leading a brand for us is a proud moment for me. And she’s the right person to do that.”

Integrating in Inverness

Customers of Merry Maids Inverness will know of the business’s long history and established presence within the local area. While under new ownership, the business retains the same staff and office managers of Andrea and Kelly, who ensure the business’s smooth day-to-day operations.

Having spent time in Inverness, getting to know the business’s staff and existing structure, Siva and Ayranna have integrated themselves into the business and, galvanising the team behind them, are excited to drive it to new heights.

“It’s been a smooth and insightful process, Ayranna says.

“I’ve been learning how things operate while thinking of ideas to improve and grow the business. I’m excited to get started, learn new things, and play an active role in helping the business grow. It’s a great opportunity to take on new challenges and apply what I’ve learned so far.”

Siva, in turn, is excited to bring the same energy and growth that he has instilled across his other businesses.

“ I’m really excited because it’s a new journey for me as well. I’m in my fifties, and I have done a few of these in the past. But this is something new.  I’m really excited to go and do the same again and be successful.”

Working in the Community

For Siva, this includes working closely within the local community to support local initiatives and people to thrive.

“Giving back to the community is something very close to my heart. I do it passionately. And we want to start with a bang as the Forget Me Knot challenge is starting on the 7th of July, which is seven days after we take over, and we want to do 10,000 miles by ourselves, including me leading the way with 500 miles minimum myself. And I know two other members of our staff have already signed up to beat me. We have committed to big numbers, and we are passionate about it, and we will continue to show our commitment to looking after the people in need across Merry Maids, too.”

Customer Guarantee

Siva and Ayranna want to assure Merry Maids Inverness customers, new and old, of the high-quality cleaning they can expect from the business and the expertly trained staff.

“ Merry Maids is a trusted brand, has been there for long enough, and we do a very good job. We don’t let people down,” says Siva

“The cleaners are well trained, and you know what to expect each time: good quality and consistency,” Ayranna agrees.

Furthermore, not only will this expansion within the area support the local economy, but it will also provide jobs for local people through the recruitment of new staff as the business grows.

From Merry Maids with love

Our business owners share the love this Valentine’s Day.

Happy Valentine’s Day from Merry Maids UK!

It’s a day for sharing the love, whether with your significant other, your friends and family, or just indulging in your passions.

At Merry Maids UK, we love cleaning. It’s what we do. But we know it’s not for everyone. That’s why we do it for you!

Through our regular or one-off cleans, we give you the time to focus on the things you love, not the cleaning.

And in the spirit of focusing on the things you love, we’ve been speaking to some of the cleaning experts who own and operate Merry Maids businesses up and down the country about what they love about Merry Maids.

What our business owners love about Merry Maids

Merry Maids of Croydon

Debbie Walker, the owner of Merry Maids of Croydon, loves that her business is people-oriented. This means that she gets to work with people all day long and in ever-changing dynamics.

She says she takes great pride in building positive relationships with staff and customers.

From celebrating life events with staff like birthdays and anniversaries to developing a rapport with clients and providing care and support to vulnerable clients with dementia and other illnesses, people are at the heart of what we do.

Through providing bespoke and top-quality services and through local initiatives like a Food Drive for a local charity, Debbie has formed a business with a heart that supports her staff and those in need and shares in the day-to-day: what life is all about.

Lynne, the Office Administrator at Merry Maids of Croydon, adds that she loves everything about Merry Maids and that it would be hard to single any particular thing out.

But she notes she loves the variety that Merry Maids brings to her routine and being amongst the company of the team’s friendly staff.

Merry Maids Fylde and Blackpool:

Having spent 30 years building a thriving cleaning business, Nicola Morris from Merry Maids Fylde and Blackpool seconds this, saying she loves working as part of a network of like-minded business owners across the UK who support one another in running their businesses.

“What I love about the Merry Maids brand is working together with a fabulous group of fellow Merry Maids owners all helping each other!”

Merry Maids Dudley, Wolverhampton and Stafford:

Tom Jackson from Merry Maids Dudley and Wolverhampton and Stafford agrees, saying what he loves about his Merry Maids business is the support from our network:

“The best thing about being a franchisee is the support and teamwork you get from the other people in your network.

Whether it’s solving a problem or just ‘how’s your business getting on?’ there is always another franchisee at the other end of the phone or WhatsApp.

Borrowing ideas from Bill in Inverness or asking Nicky in Blackpool what she is doing about a particular issue is invaluable.”

Merry Maids Sutton Coldfield:

Becky Hewitt, owner of Merry Maids Sutton Coldfield says what she loves about Merry Maids is the people, whether customers or staff.

“What I love about Merry Maids of Sutton Coldfield on Valentines day and every day, is my team.

Merry Maids of Sutton Coldfield has 5 * reviews from both loyal and one off customers because of the maids hard work and tireless, consistent efforts.

This paired with loyal, appreciative customers makes coming to work every day enjoyable.”
