A dedicated member of the Merry Maids South Surrey team is preparing to get muddy for a cause close to her heart this summer.

Terri Ellis, who has worked for Merry Maids South Surrey since July 2017, will take part in the Race for Life Pretty Muddy 5K event in Crawley on 18 July to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Race for Life events help fund Cancer Research UK’s work on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. With one in two people expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, the charity continues to fund research that saves lives and brings hope to families across the UK.

For Terri, the event is deeply personal. She said:

“I’ve chosen to take part because our family has been affected by cancer. My uncle died from cancer this year, and other family members have also had the illness, although thankfully they recovered. Cancer is something that touches so many families, including mine. Taking part in Pretty Muddy is my way of doing something positive and helping raise money for the incredible work Cancer Research UK carries out every day.”

Terri has already begun preparing for the challenge with regular evening walks and weekly gym sessions.

She added:

“I do long walks in the evening and go to the gym once a week, so that’s all part of my preparation. I’m really looking forward to taking part and helping raise as much money as possible.”

The team at Merry Maids South Surrey is proud to support Terri as she takes on the 5K obstacle course and the fundraising challenge.
