Training & Career Progression
At Merry Maids, previous cleaning experience isn’t necessary. Upon joining us, you will undertake full training, enabling you to clean to our standards and use our bespoke products.
All equipment required will be provided for you.
You will receive Alzheimers and dementia training by Alzheimer’s Society.

Anthony Medford is the director of Merry Maids Wakefield and has recently taken over the local Merry Maids business. We now have 20 maids covering the Wakefield area, all of whom are specially trained in the ‘Merry Maids’ way of cleaning.

Merry Maids are experienced at working with letting agents to help keep their clients and property owners happy. All too often property owners are faced with the hassle of redecoration and deep cleaning at the end of a tenancy in order to get their property back into a rentable state. That’s where we can help. We have designed our tenancy clean to provide you with the best possible service. Our cleaners know how important it is to leave the property as immaculately as possible whether people are moving in/out or selling a house.
Use Merry Maids because:
- We can keep an eye on your clients’ properties because we’re there regularly
- We notify you of any potential problems
- By visiting regularly, we can keep on top of the cleaning, which reduces the need for deep cleaning

Merry Maids of Wakefield and South Leeds are proud to be Dementia Friends.
Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, talks and acts about the condition. Dementia touches the lives of millions of people across the UK. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that means many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion.
A Dementia Friend or Dementia Friends Champion such as the maids at Merry Maids of Wakefield and South Leeds are individuals who have a better understanding of dementia; will know how to act more sympathetically towards people with dementia in their communities and workplaces; and has committed to taking a practical action to help people with dementia, contributing to a dementia friendly community. From telling friends about the Dementia Friends programme to visiting someone you know living Dementia dementia, every action counts.
We felt that it was important for each one of our maids to become Dementia Friends as we often visit customers homes where someone is affected by Dementia, either personally or through a friend or relative. The training provided has helped our maids to become familiar with the condition, and understand how to act more sympathetically.
We know that being Dementia Friends will be a huge benefit to our customers existing and new.
